For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to visit Yellowstone National Park. I would frequent the magazine isle in the grocery store and look at the National Geographic materials to gaze at the beauty of the national parks and wildlife. Yellowstone made several cover debuts that peaked my interest. As I browsed through the pages of the magazine I was in awe and knew that one day I would visit this beautiful place.

Where do I begin to confess my love for visiting national parks? This will be a two-part post about Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park. Both parks were high on the wish list as I’ve never been to either before and took almost a year to plan. Four of us set out in our RV’s for a 1,600+ miles round trip to visit these two magnificent locations, so let’s start with Grand Teton National Park.

After an awesome BBQ with some friends the night before, I thought about taking it easy on Sunday. I decided to go to the neighborhood park to enjoy a bit of the beautiful outside temperature and see what kind of wildlife I could find.

During the past week I’ve been contemplating on going to Burney Falls and McCloud Falls to photograph the waterfalls. The adventure would begin at 4am with a 4 hour commute into northern California and driving in darkness while dodging the wildlife. Let’s just say that things didn’t go as planned. So, I decided to go to Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe — a place I’ve never been.

I’ve been traveling US-395 highway for years now, and every time I pass up these two dilapidated houses I wanted to pull over and photograph them. The only issue is they are literally on the side of the highway, which causes concern for those times when I’ve watched news stories about people getting hit by passing vehicles.
